The European Commission secured on 30 March 2017 the signing of the Malta MedFish4Ever Declaration, a 10-year pledge to save the Mediterranean fish stocks and protect the region's ecological and economic wealth. The event took place during a Ministerial conference on the sustainability of Mediterranean fisheries.

The Declaration was signed by ministerial representatives from both northern and southern coastlines. It was the result of a European Commission-led process that started in February 2016.
