The European Union has recently defined a new category of company, the ‘micro-entity’. Micro-entities are very small limited liability companies and qualifying partnerships.

This consultation, published on 27 February 2013, sets out proposals for the UK implementation of the European Directive exempting micro-entities from certain financial reporting obligations. The government is seeking views on how best to implement the Micro Directive, which permits several exemptions. Each of the exemptions are described in detail and a number of considerations are outlined. Deadline for responses: 22 March 2013.
