Slovakia will meet euro criteria, Prime Minister Robert Fico tells MEPs

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico told Members of the European Parliament from the Economics Committee of the EP on 3 December 2007 that his country would meet the criteria for adopting the euro with effect from January 2009. He said this would not require his government to curtail its public spending plans. The meeting also heard from Slovakia's Finance Minister and central bank Governor.
