Since the onset of the economic crisis, the unemployment level among young people has risen sharply, although an improvement is now being registered in some EU countries.

Young people, especially those who are not in employment, education or training (NEET), are now the group at highest risk of social exclusion.

Through the Youth Guarantee the EU seeks to intervene quickly to help young people back into the labour market and promote the social inclusion.

This report discusses the first year of implementation of the Youth Guarantee and draws on case study findings showcasing successful initiatives aimed at preventing the social exclusion of young people in the EU.
