Date: 15/05/03 ENRIQUE Barón Crespo, the leader of the Socialist group in the European Parliament, has urged the Convention to be ready to make tough compromises in order to meet its 20 June deadline. Although the debate has highlighted differences between members over the past 14 months on the big questions of who does what in a future EU, the Spaniard appealed to the forum to find common ground in the "countdown period". The head of the Party of European Socialists, Enrique Crespo, has called on the European Convention to present its proposals on the future of the EU in line with its deadline of 20 June 2003. |
