  • 1. Discussions at the External Relations Council on 12 July 2004, at which Ministers carried out a thorough evaluation of the current situation relating to the Doha Round negotiations and expressed broad support for the Commission's strategy and tactics.
  • 2. Members of the Group of 90 developing nations (G90) published a communiqué on 12 July 2004 saying developing countries should be compensated for reductions in their preferential access to western markets that resulted from trade liberalisation.
  • 3. The Head of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) issued a statement on 12 July 2004 urging poor countries to adopt realistic and constructive negotiating proposals as the G90 meeting began (also on 12 July).
