Further information A provisional agreement of the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union on the first transposition of SPRFMO measures was scheduled for a plenary vote during the May 2018 (II) session of the European Parliament. During the January 2018 plenary session, the European Parliament was expected to vote on a European Commission proposal transposing a series of measures adopted by the South Pacific Regional Fisheries Management Organisation (SPRFMO) into EU law for the first time. The European Union was a contracting party to the SPRFMO, and the binding conservation and management measures adopted by this organisation must be transposed to become applicable to fishing vessels flying the flag of a Member State. |
