Spain may get joint sovereignty of Gibraltar but not full control

Peter Hain, Britain's Minister for Europe, said on 28 November 2001 that discussions with Spain over the future of Gibraltar could not lead to a handover. He told the House of Commons Foreign Affairs Select Committee that there was 'no question of this government simply handing Gibraltar over to Spain'.
