Spain seeks EU help on migrants

Spain has asked the European Union, May 2006, for more help to deal with a renewed wave of illegal immigrants travelling by sea from West Africa. On the 24 May 2006 the European Commission said that the European Union would deploy boats and aircraft to help stem migrant flows from Africa to Spain's Canary Islands.
