Spanish foreign policy monitor: January-March 2014

Spanish foreign policy during the first three months of 2014 has been multifaceted. The beginning of the year has been characterised by a strategic re-definition of Spanish foreign policy; Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy’s visit to the United States and Minister Margallo’s tour around Southeast Asia; the crisis between Spanish company Sacyr and the Government of Panama; and Europe, which was another hot topic in Spanish foreign policy given the economic recovery registered in Spain and the political crisis in Eastern Europe, which is of great interest to all members states.
