Spanish foreign policy monitor: July-September 2013

Throughout summer 2013, Spanish foreign policy centred on several high-profile issues. Among these are the detention of Bolivian President Evo Morales’ plane in Vienna, increasing tensions between Spain, the UK and Gibraltar, and the new foreign action and service law. Other questions that also featured in the agenda are the government’s reaction to a possible military intervention in Syria, the withdrawal of Spanish troops from Afghanistan, the elections in Germany and the commercial shift towards Asia and Africa.
