Spanish MPs vote for party ban in ETA purge / Vote to outlaw party in ETA purge

The Spanish Government voted in Parliament on 26 August 2002 to outlaw Batasuna, a radical party viewed as the political arm of the banned separatist group ETA. A High Court judge ordered the immediate closure of Batasuna's offices, cultural centres, businesses and websites in Spain.
