On the 22 August 2016, First Vice-President of the European Commission, Frans Timmermans, Commissioner for Justice, Consumers and Gender Equality, Věra Jourová, and Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport, Tibor Navracsics, released a statement on the occasion of the Europe-Wide Day of Remembrance for the victims of all totalitarian and authoritarian regimes.
