Straw spells out UK commitment to NATO

Speaking in the UK Parliament on 20 October 2003, Jack Straw, the Foreign Secretary, said there was 'no case' for a separate European Union military headquarters outside NATO, or for the EU to take over the territorial defence duties currently performed by NATO. However, France and Germany still want a more defined EU capability with a military headquarters in Tervuren, Brussels.
