Barely three months into his job, Christian Streiff, the new head of Airbus, is threatening October 2006 to quit unless he is given more authority by the company's Franco-German parent EADS to turn round the embattled aircraft maker. His move comes as EADS' French and German shareholders appear to be renewing hostilities over where power lies within the group and its subsidiaries, and could call into question yet again its joint management structure.
