Subsidy row hits Airbus launch

The launch, on 19.12.00, of the European Airbus superjumbo was marred by a transatlantic row between the European Union and the United States. The European Commission said it would retaliate against any possible US action over the loans of about $2.5bn (£1.7bn) from four European countries for the project.
