More than 32 people were injured on the 31 October 2010 when a suspected suicide bomber attacked a police post in Taksim Square, Istanbul’s central square.

The armed Kurdish rebel group, the PKK, denied responsibility for the attack. The government said it is too soon to conclude which group was behind the attack. Extreme Left and Islamist groups have also carried out terrorist attacks in the past
