Features published before that date are still available via an archive website (see related url hyperlinks).On the 14 August 2017 thousands gathered in Ankara to celebrate the 16th anniversary of the founding of the ruling Turkish AK Party. President and party leader Erdoğan announced that there would be 'fundamental' changes to the party in the run-up to the election campaign in 2019. The party has already undergone major changes since it was first founded, commentators observe.
