In December 2014, Lithuania approved an action plan for the development of integration policy for aliens (i.e. non-Lithuanians and stateless) for the period 2015-2017. One of the main goals of the plan is to increase tolerance towards aliens, including refugees, in Lithuanian society. Yet, in June 2016, the leaders of the same ruling coalition parties signed an agreement voicing their disapproval of additional mandatory refugee resettlement quotas. The opposition parties did not take a clear position on this issue.
