The Commission has given farmers more time to harvest last year’s crops

while still benefiting from subsidies earmarked for fallow fields. To qualify for set-aside subsidies this year, farmers should have harvested their crops by 15 January. But the Commission has extended the deadline to 28 February to take account of an unusually frosty January.
