Book abstract:

This new edition of The directory of online European information has been completely revised and aims to provide a quick reference tool for those looking for EU-related information. It provides details of some 900 free and charged-for electronic sources on European information covering online databases, CD-ROMs, diskettes and the internet. The directory is simple to use thanks to standardised symbols to indicate the access method, description, language, price, related products and contact details for each entry. The guide to symbols is given in the inside cover of the book to refer to when consulting an entry. It is also fully indexed by product, subject and source.

Unsurprisingly, the largest section covers European information on the internet and this provides details of websites for EU institutions, intergovernmental organisations, Member State governments and their politicians, local and regional governments, university and academic, and commercial sites.

There is also a chapter giving reference information on distributors, official gateways and sales agents.

This would be a valuable tool for any information unit or library and provides easy access to information on a wide range of electronic sources.

All the information in the directory has been checked to May 2000.
