Since 2003, innovation in environmentally friendly technology has been actively promoted in the EU at both political and practical levels. The European Commission’s Environmental Technologies Action Plan addresses practical aspects, while the Clean, Clever, Competitive initiative focuses on stimulating political impetus and awakening realisation that environmental innovation also promises benefits for economic competitiveness.
