The EU has agreed to renew an agreement with the Andean group of countries

which allows agricultural products from Colombia, Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador and Venezuela to enter the Union tariff-free. The tax exemption is meant to encourage the South American states to promote the farming of alternative crops to drug-producing coca leaves.
