Date: 10/09/1998 on the US state of Massachusetts' anti-Burma policy at a meeting in Geneva on 22 September, European Commission officials confirmed this week. The Union claims the measure breaks WTO rules on government procurement. Under a law passed by Massachusetts in 1993, all tenders for state projects from companies with investments with Burma are subject to a 10&percent; surcharge which makes their bids uncompetitive. |
