Continuous heavy rains since early January 2006 triggered severe flooding in Bolivia. The European Commission on 23 February 2006 adopted an emergency decision of €1 million to assist the victims. The aid was to target a population of 6,000 families, around 30,000 people, living in the most severely affected departments of the country. The funding was to be channelled through ECHO, the Commission’s Humanitarian Aid Department. |
