The European public affairs directory:

First published in 1990, this well-known annual publication is a useful tool for anyone wanting to contact 9,000 top decision-makers. Although the primary focus is people and organisations in Brussels, entries have also been added for those outside Brussels considered important to those using the directory.

The various sections cover all major categories of institution working in the area. Section A, Corporate Contacts, lists alphabetically the major corporations with full-time European Public Affairs directors or other executives who deal regularly in this field. Section B, Professional, is a list of organisations which represent specific trade, industrial or professional sectors at European level. Their main activity is usually to liaise with the European Union institutions and inform their members of developments at European level. Organisations covered include European trade and professional associations, think tanks and trade unions and law firms, and there is also a useful listing by subject. Section C, Media, covers journalist and press agencies reporting from Brussels on Europe. Section D, European Union Institutions, lists officials of the various departments in the Commission, MEPs listed both by country and name, and officials of other EU institutions and agencies. Section E, European Union Information, groups and updates existing information on sources of EU information, both in Brussels and elsewhere. This includes information officers of the various EU Institutions, European Documentation Centres and Euro-Info Centres. Section F gives selected tips and key facts to help the reader through the world of European Public Affairs. Section G gives Brussels telephone numbers and selected contacts for professionals working in European public affairs, while Section H is an index of names of all the people listed in the directory, some 8,000 people.

Most entries are standardised, giving name, address, telephone, fax, email and website, as well as the principal executives and their titles. Information for each entry has been supplied by the organisations themselves.

New features in this edition include full details of the new European Commission; full details of the MEPs for 1999-2004; significant additions to several chapters, notably Professional, Media and European Union Information and expanded coverage of email and website addresses.

This is an extremely useful reference tool for any library, information centre, company or organisation that needs to find institutional and personal contacts working at the heart of the European Union.
