The European Union and the environment

Pollution does not stop at frontiers. It is therefore essential to combat it or, even better still, prevent it from occurring wherever possible. Given the pollution risks threatening Europe's environment, the European Union has embarked upon a broad-based strategy whose success will depend on all sectors of society and, more generally, people themselves making their contribution to it.
