The European Union. Readings on the theory and practice of European integration, 2nd ed.:
The first edition of this title was published in 1994 as a sourcebook to the key texts informing the theory and practice of European integration, including both the rhetoric of politicians and the writings of academics. A new substantially revised second edition has now been published.

The volume is divided into three sections: The first section 'Visions of a united Europe', presents the visions of a united Europe expressed by some of the primary shapers of the union, with contributions from Altiero Spinelli, Ernesto Rossi, Winston Churchill, Robert Schuman, Jean Monnet, Charles de Gaulle, Margaret Thatcher, Jacques Delors, Wolfgang Schäuble and Karl Lamers, plus sections from the Treaties establishing the European Communities, the Single European Act and the Treaty on European Union.

The expanded second section, 'Early currents in integration theory', introduces the seminal work of early scholars as they struggled to understand post-war European integration, the ideas of federalism, functionalism, neofunctionalism, intergovernmentalism etc., with contributions from Sergio Pistone, David Mitrany, Karl W. Deutsch, Ernst B. Haas, Leon N. Lindberg, Stanley Hoffman and Bela Balassa.

The third, completely updated third section, 'Current debates in integration theory', features path-breaking contemporary scholarship on the integration process, with contributions from John Pinder, Wayne Sandholtz, John Zysman, Andrew Moravcsik, Anne-Marie Burley, Walter Mattli, Gary Marks, Liesbet Hooghe, Kermit Blank, Paul Pierson, Sim Hix and Loukas Tsoukalis.

Each piece presented is set in context by an introduction written by the editors.
