The EU shows the intention to establish a new strategy for its action and relations with the African region. It aims to reinforce a joint approach to democracy, regional peace and security, as well as revitalising multilateralism. It vows to focus on encouraging social and human development, trade and regional integration.

These conclusions were adopted at a meeting of the Council of the European Union.
