The Irish Crisis

This paper seeks to explain the origins of the Irish economic crisis of 2008-2011 and provide an interim assessment of the Irish government’s management of the crisis. Finally, it evaluates the lessons from Ireland for the macroeconomics of monetary unions.

VoxEU.org is a policy portal set up by the Centre for Economic Policy Research in conjunction with a consortium of national sites, including the Italian site LaVoce, the French site Telos and the Spanish site Sociedad Abierta.
