The ‘netting’ directive was finally adopted by foreign ministers this week

This directive means that banks carrying out operations between each other do not need to draw up new contracts for net liabilities, which are then assigned a piece of capital to cover their risk. Member states are meant to implement this amendment to the solvency directive by the end of June.
