European Publishers Council chairman Sir Frank Rogers denounced plans to force vendors to get written consent before contacting potential customers, saying: “The Parliament is not only flying in the face of commercial reality - but of both the Commission and the Council as well, both of which have recognised that these amendments would make telemarketing impossible.” The issue has yet to be voted on by the full Parliament.
