The role of maritime clusters to enhance the strength and development of maritime sectors

The main objective of the study is to enhance the exchange of knowledge and experience: knowledge on the size, specialisation and focus of the maritime sectors or clusters (mapping) and experience within the different cluster organisations.

Ultimately, this may provide building blocks for evidence-based policy development in line with the Blue Paper and its aim to contribute to sustainable development and the competitiveness of the maritime sectors.

This study presents the following key results:
- An overview of European maritime clusters showing their main economic features;
- Assessment of success factors and the role of maritime clusters in maritime policy development.
