The Union has welcomed the Latvian parliament’s decision

to approve legislation to grant citizenship to stateless children born in the country after 1991, and to abolish its restrictive 'window' system for citizenship applications. The EU noted, however, that the legislation was not being pushed through under Latvia's urgency procedure and called on the government to complete work on the law “without delay”.
