Abstract:

This book does what it says it does on the cover - bringing together topical analyses of contemporary European environmental law. The editor asserts in his preface that European environmental policy has entered a crucial phase and a wide range of challenging issues, such as civil liability, the formation of international environmental law and the use of enhanced co-operation are covered in articles contributed by an impressive array of leading European and American scholars.

These commentaries are followed by a detailed and user-friendly survey of the key developments in environmental law, broken down by theme and then by Member State. This annual survey offers legal practitioners, policy-makers and academics an indispensable reference work on current and future European environmental law.

The work also includes a selection of book reviews of the latest publications in the European environment sphere as well as summaries and full texts of preparatory Commission documents, green books, and other discussion papers.
