The European Commission is preparing an impact assessment of policy options in advance of the its review of the 2001 Tobacco Products Directive. The review was scheduled for early 2012. A tobacco industry representative warned the European Commission that it would have to face legal action if it tried to reproduce Australia's plain-packaging proposals for cigarettes in Europe. |
