Towards a common agricultural and rural policy for Europe:
This is the title of a study carried out in 1996 for the Directorate-General of Agriculture of the European Commission by a group of experts from nine countries of the European Union under the chairmanship of Allan Buckwell. The group brought together expertise in agricultural economics and rural sociology, environmental economics and rural development, market analysis and political economy. The report has now been published by the Commission as a contribution to the ongoing debate on the future of the Common Agricultural Policy, although it is not an official Commission report.
