The Security Council of the United Nations (UNSC), on 16 May 2006, adopted a resolution to strengthen the African Union mission in Darfur prior to the deployment of a United Nations mission. If approved by the Security Council, the African Union could hand over its current mission in Darfur to the UN by the end of 2006. |
