Officials from 12 south-east European countries have proposed a joint action plan to combat trafficking in women, who are illegally transported across borders in the region to become prostitutes in western Europe. The Balkan stability pact, set up by international donors to finance economic recovery in the region, has set up a taskforce to combat trafficking in women and children.
