This is a transcript of the 2011 Dillon Lecture, an event held on 7 July 2011 at Chatham House, London.

The outgoing Co-President of Chatham House, Lord George Robertson, discussed the future of the Transatlantic relationship in the context of the ongoing conflicts in Afghanistan and Libya. The former Secretary-General of NATO expressed doubts about the capacity of the US and Europe to achieve 'victory' in either of those conflicts, but argued that recent developments indicate that a welcome rebalancing of the US-Europe relationship may be underway.
