The Council of Europe's Venice Commission published on 14 October 2016 an Opinion regarding the lifting of immunity to Turkey's members of parliament.

The Commission called on Turkish authorities to restore the inviolability of members of parliament, infringed by an amendment of the constitution in April 2016.
