He said that business opportunities could be lost to European companies because of the slow pace of negotiations over Turkey joining the European Union.

If Turkey were eventually to become a member of the 27-nation bloc, it would be a 'win-win [for businesses] in both Turkey and Europe'.

Turkey is one of the best places for manufacturing [goods for Europe] and is also a potentially huge new market for the products of European companies.
