Turkey has ended talks with the International Monetary Fund over a new loan agreement because it can 'stand on its own feet' and no longer needs the money, the prime minister said on the 10 March 2010.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s comments followed statements by the Turkish Treasury and IMF on the 9 March 2010 announcing that an IMF mission would visit Ankara in May 2010 for regular consultations, delayed for years by on-off talks over a possible financing package.
