UKIP MEP suspended after expenses scandal

Janice Atkinson, a UK Independence Party's Member of the European Parliament, was suspended on 19 March 2015 due to accusations of European Parliament expenses fraud. Ms Atkinson was also barred from standing in the UK national election taking place in May 2015.

Her chief of staff was filmed by an undercover reporter from The Sun newspaper allegedly accepting a bogus restaurant receipt for almost treble the correct amount.
