Ukraine’s Naftogaz will try to deal with Gazprom without EU mediation

Ukraine's gas company Naftogaz issued a statement on 8 June 2016 indicating it would consider purchasing gas from Russia's Gazprom, if the price was competitive, via direct contacts between the two companies.

Mediation from the European Union in the past allowed Russian supplies of gas to be guaranteed during the Winter, when demand is higher.
