There is no end in sight to the legal wrangling between the European Union and United States over subsidies to their respective aircraft manufacturers, Boeing and Airbus. On 2 February 2006, the US blocked a new EU request for a World Trade Organisation panel to investigate a number of subsidies allegedly benefiting Boeing. However, the US also announced it had just filed a second WTO challenge over aid to Airbus.
