Charles James, Head of the US Justice Department's antitrust division, has made resolution of EU-US differences on so-called 'portfolio effect' theories (used by the European Commission to block the GE-Honeywell deal) one of his top international priorities. Speaking at the launch of the Global Competition Network, Mr James argued that continued disagreement on the theory could result in a prolonged rift.
