Article reports that Vattenfall, the state-owned Swedish power company, is to buy the production and supply business of Nuon of the Netherlands for €8.5bn ($11bn) in cash, February 2009, in a deal that analysts believe brings the curtain down on the great wave of European utility consolidation in recent years.

Vattenfall and Nuon are striving to be Europe's number one in the field of seaborne wind energy generation.
