Video conference of defence ministers, 20 November 2020

EU Ministers responsible for matters relating to defence held a videoconference on 20 November 2020. The agenda included the following items:

  • Exchange of views on the Strategic Compass;
  • Following up on the adoption of a set of conclusions, exchange of views on the strategic review of PESCO;
  • Briefing on the situation in Libya and in Mali;
  • Briefing on the latest developments in the negotiation of the European Peace Facility and the status of the Military Planning and Conduct Capability (MPCC).

Ahead of the video conference, the Steering Board of the European Defence Agency (EDA) held a meeting in a virtual format. Ministers were presented with the final report of the first cycle of the Coordinated Annual Review on Defence (CARD), adopted the agency’s 2021 general budget at €37.5 million, and approved EDA’s Three-Year Planning Framework (2021-2023). The Council Guidelines for EDA's Work in 2021 had already been approved in advance.
