Summary:

The Eurogroup held a meeting via videoconference on 3 November 2020. It met in its regular format as well as in its inclusive format, and in a new Banking Union format. The agenda included the following items:

  • Briefing by the ECDC Director on the evolution of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic;
  • Exchange of views with the chair of the European Parliament's ECON committee on the economic developments and policy challenges facing the Eurozone;
  • Adoption of statement on COVID-19 developments;
  • Discussion on the benefits and challenges of a potential introduction of a digital euro;
  • Presentation by the chair of the ECB Supervisory Board on the supervisory tasks carried out since its last report;
  • Presentation by the chair of the SRB on the Board's latest activities with a focus on the response to the COVID-19 crisis;
  • Update on the implementation of the COVID-19 safety nets agreed at a previous videoconference:
    • SURE Programme;
    • Pan-European Guarantee Fund;
    • ESM Pandemic Crisis Support credit line.
